HumanLove is a music theme by Shiro Sagisu, written for the soundtrack of SSSS.GRIDMAN. Several variations appear throughout the anime series, in styles including orchestral, techno, and metal. The principal techno version with vocals occurs in Episode 6 and again in Episode 9. A long version was produced for the character-song album SSSS.GRIDMAN BEST ALBUM, with extended lyrics by Mike Wyzgowski (uncredited) and vocals by Paul Lee. That song also appears on the Original Soundtrack album.
Shiro Sagisu
In an interview for Onkyo Music[2], Sagisu explained that he wrote the techno piece first, which is used in Episode 6. The sound was intended to be reminiscent of 1990’s video game music. Using English vocals was part of creating that feeling for it. The phrases 'Human Love' and 'Robot Love' correspond to the main characters Akane and Rikka, with some relationship to other characters as well. For instance, he describes the symmetry with Anti:
- "Anti, who was created by becoming Human to beat Gridman, is RobotLove."
From that techno basis, CHOKKAKU developed and performed the guitar arrangements. Masamichi Amano worked with Sagisu to do the orchestra arrangement, and conducted the orchestra. Both CHOKKAKU and Amano previously collaborated with Sagisu on the music for Shin Godzilla.
